Scream Queens is an exploration of the representation of women in Horror films. It explores the tropes, from The Psycho Mother to The Final Girl, in an attempt to undermine the often misogynistic portrayal of women. Influenced by iconic women and imagery of horror, Scream Queens inspects the how and why of the representation of the female body in horror. Through the use of still and moving image, Scream Queens aims to make the viewer the question the roles of women in horror, using humour as a way to reclaim the female image away from the male gaze.
